I’m ready for Eagles recall ―Efe Ambrose

Defender Ambrose Efe has declared his readiness to wear the Eagles shirt again if the opportunity comes his way for a return.

The Scotland based player said he never retired from international football but was only excluded because he was not playing regularly at Celtic.

“I was having some issues at Celtic and I guess the coaches then did not call me because I was not playing regularly but thank God all that is behind me now and I am ready anytime my services are needed. I am not new to the team because I have played with most of the guys currently in the team,” Ambrose said.

Now on loan to Hibernian, he made another bold claim for a recall to the Super Eagles team for summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia when he made his 27th start in 28 Scottish Premiership for Hibernian on Saturday.

The Nigeria 2014 World Cup defender has been in fine form for Hibernian this season and last week appealed to Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr, to consider him for a place in the Russia-bound squad for the World Cup and based his claim on his form and experience.

The defender further proved his case with another sterling display on Saturday at the Rugby Park where his club, Hibernia were forced to a 2-2 draw by their host, Kilmarnock.

He revealed that the encounter was very tight for the team in which his team was two goals up before conceding two goals.

“They were good too. They defeated Celtic 1-0 at that same stadium. We will take positives from the results,” he said.

Hibernia have played 28 league games so far this term and Ambrose has played in all, starting in 27 and came in as a 45th minute substitute way back in August when his club forced Dundee FC to a 1-1 draw at the Dens Park.

This means Ambrose has played and started in 24 league games the club has played since then.

At the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Ambrose started and played for all 90 minutes in each of Super Eagles four games at the competition.
