I’m satisfied with draw against Eagles —Rabah Madjer

Algeria coach, Rabah Madjer has expressed satisfaction with the 1-1 draw the Desert Foxes recorded at home on Friday night against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

John Ogu put the Gernot Rohr men ahead in the 62nd minute before Yacine Brahimi rallied to a leveller through a controversial spot kick awarded by Gabonese referee Eric  Castane in the last 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Stade Mohamed Hamlaoui, Constantine.

Madjer, who was handling the Foxes for the first time said his team lived up to expectations in the game against the Eagles who had already qualified for the World Cup ahead of the match.

“Frankly, we could not ask for more from this team. We faced a very tough team from Nigeria, who did not let it go despite their World Cup qualification earned before the match,” Madjer told Lebutuer.com after the match.

Madjer, former Algeria captain stated that the future of the new squad is bright.

“We tried to develop our game despite the difficulties. That said, I think that from who what I saw tonight (Friday) the future of this selection looks very bright.

“There are many positive things to remember though, I repeat not everything has been perfect.

“I think the draw is satisfying even if we could have won if we had converted the opportunities we got, especially in the second half,” said the hero of the 1990 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Nigeria finished the group tops with 14 points ahead of Zambia (eight) and Cameroon (seven) while Algeria finished last on the table with two points.
