The General Manager of Rangers FC of Enugu, Chief Paul Chibuzor has said that Imama Amapakabo remains the team’s handler amid rumours of his planned move for greener pastures.
He made this known shortly after the Rivers State-born coach led Rangers to win the Nigeria Professional Football League title, the first silverware by the Enugu side since 1984.
Chibuzor expressed hope that Amapakabo would pen a new deal with the Flying Antelopes ahead of next season once he is through with the national assignment. Amapakabo is one of the assistant coaches of the Super Eagles.
“Imama Amapakabo is still Rangers coach. There will be negotiation, we have to sit down with him and negotiate, Imama has a contract that is still running as the season is not over yet,” Chibuzor said.
“He does not have any intention of dumping Rangers, he’s not going anywhere.
“We are one family that is motivated by His Excellency, Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, number one supporter of Rangers. He has given us what we want and give him what he needed, people should be happy, Enugu is bubbling, the players are happy.”
On Ifeanyi Egwim who sustained an injury during the last game against El-Kanemi Warriors, he said the injured striker has received a boost through the governor’s visit.
“Egwim is still in the hospital in Enugu after a successful surgery, the governor visited him in the hospital and gave him N1million.
He also directed that Egwim be put in a place where he can get adequate rest.
“After the donation, everybody including the players went there to visit him [Egwim] and members of his family are very happy,” Chibuzor added.
