Iniesta’s history is unrepeatable ―Valverde

On the occasion of his final game for Barcelona, tributes poured in for Andres Iniesta, including from his coach Ernesto Valverde, who described his captain as historic.

The midfielder was in tears as he left the pitch for the final time in the 80th minute.

“We wanted to compete and win, but today was Andres’ day and the crowd made it special,” Valverde said to Barca TV after the game.

“I wanted to change things at the end of the game, to coincide with Leo on the field… It was the right moment.”

Valverde suggested that Iniesta’s legacy will last for years to come.

“These types of players will be talked about long into the future,” he continued.

“They are unrepeatable, historical players that everyone will remember.”
