My injuries not down to juju—Isaac Success

Watford’s Isaac Success says his niggling injuries are not down to fetish effects on him.

The Nigerian forward bought from Granada in the Spanish Liga is expected to fill the goalscoring void created by compatriot, Odion Ighalo, who has hit scoring famine this season but the player’s fitness has been a subject of concern.

However, Success told the club’s website that he was so religious he would not believe there is anything superstitious in his plight.

“I heard that my injury worries were caused by some African curse. I’m a Christian and I really don’t believe in that.

“Injury comes when you are a professional and most of the time hard work can help prevent it.

“I’ve really started working harder than before to prevent injuries. I believe I’m coming back stronger and stronger than before.”

Success also hopes he is nearing a return to action from the hamstring injury to impress for the Vicarage Road giants.

“I’m good and I’m getting better, I’m hoping to train with the team on Monday,’’ said the forward.

The Nigerian who joined the Hornets from Granada for a club record fee has made just two substitute appearances in the last 15 matches and has only started one game this season (against Middlesbrough), thanks to a troublesome hamstring.

“It’s frustrating as I’m trying to make my name in the Premier League.

“I haven’t had the chance to impress. Everyone knows my ability but I’ve got more to offer to the fans and the team.”
