Racing Genk striker, Paul Onuachu, is rated as doubtful to suit up for the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations after suffering an injury during his side’s 1-1 draw with Royal Antwerp on Sunday.
Onuachu injured his hamstring and had to make way for Ike Ugbo in the 71st minute.
Genk manager, Bernd Storck, revealed post-match that the Nigeria international faces a minimum of three weeks on the sidelines, meaning he is not expected to return to action until at least January 9, two days before the Super Eagles begin their campaign at AFCON 2021.
Interim haead coach of Nigeria, Austin Eguavoen, has to decide whether to risk Onuachu for the tournament in Cameroon- something that cannot be ruled out in its entirety with a roster size of 28 permitted for AFCON 2021.

“He suffered a muscle tear. I already had the feeling that I had to replace him, but he said he could continue,” Storck told Sporza via voetbalnieuws.
“And then he suffered a hamstring injury during a spurt. He will not be able to play for the next three, four weeks”.
Eguavoen and Super Eagles fans will be hoping for Onuachu’s swift recovery as the FC Ebedei product is Nigeria’s top goalscorer in the whole of Europe with 12 league goals to his name in 2021-2022.
