Inter plan to hijack Osimhen’s €80M Napoli move

Inter Milan on Tuesday announced that they were ready to sign Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen for €80million and offer him a starting role

Osimhen was last week, in Naples, holding talks with Napoli manager, Gennaro Gattuso and club President but returned to France for next season’s preparatory session with Lille.

Meanwhile, feelers that Osimhen not giving his words to Napoli meant that the Nigerian is not yet convinced he had the chance of leading Napoli’s striking force parading experienced campaigners like Dries Mertens, Arkadiusz Milik and Lorenzo Insigne.

Mertens currently tops Napoli’s scoring table with 13 goals from 23 games while Milik has 13 from 19 games. Insigne has 10 from 34 matches.

Meanwhile, Inter are offering the same amount (€80M) as Napoli but the Nezarrizi have gone ahead to assure Osimhen as an automatic strike partner to Romero Lukaku.

The club also listed another Nigerian, Victor Moses, among five others for Inter departure.

The coming of Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, will make Moses surplus to requirement for the club.

According to the print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, veteran defenders Diego Godin, Cristiano Biraghi, Kwadwo Asamoah and fullbacks Roberto Gagliardini and Matias Vecino are likely to join Moses on way out.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s agent, Okolo, on Tuesday warned the player to think deep before taking the big decision.

“I think it’s important for him to have a starting place, to grow further, even if there are no guarantees in the world of football, Okolo told Calcio Napoli 24 .

“At Wolfsburg they promised him several things, then they moved the goalposts. Victor doesn’t want to get this decision wrong.
