International friendly: Iwobi wrecks Argentina

Two goals by Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi, ensured that the Super Eagles of Nigeria whipped their Argentine opponents by 4-2 in Krosnadar, Russia on Tuesday night in an international friendly.

Iwobi turned what looked like an Argentine goal feat on its head and gave the Rohr-toured side a big lift ahead of the World Cup in Russia next summer.

Argentina, World cup runners-up in 2014 scored the game’s first goal through Banega who fired a 27th minute free kick past Daniel Akpeyi.

Sergio Aguero made it two for the Argentines tapping in a Pavon-right-sided cross in the 36th minute.

However Kelechi Iheanacho gave Nigeria a sort of hope before the interval when he beautifully curled in a free-kick after Alex Iwobi was fouled in the Argentine’s area.

Iwobi started the Nigerian show when he scored the equaliser in the 52nd minute and two minutes later, fresh call-up, Brian Idowu, who came in for Ola Aina made it third goal for Nigeria.

Then again, Iwobi put the Argentines to sleep when he netted the fourth goal in the 72nd minute with an outstanding finish.
