Chidiebere Nwakali
Former Nigeria U17 coach Ben Iroha has said Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is on the right track of developing Nigeria football by giving a chance to young players like Manchester City loanee Chidiebere Nwakali.
Iroha, a former Super Eagles left back, spoke to Scorenigeria.com.ng from his base in the United States of America, USA, after Rohr released his list of players for next matches against Algeria and Argentina.
“The Super Eagles have already qualified for the World Cup, so I believe the friendly against Argentina is part of the preparation for the Russia 2018 showdown”, said Iroha, who featured in Nigeria’s first World Cup finals appearance in 1994 in USA.
“So, bringing in young players like Chidiebere Nwakali among others to start learning the ropes early enough is a step in the right direction.
“Such decision guarantees a better future for the team especially given the fact that some of the senior players may not be part of the Super Eagles beyond the 2018 World Cup”.
The former MVVV Maastricht of Netherlands left back posited that the match against Argentina will put the Super Eagles in the right frame of mind after the inconsequential final Group B World Cup qualifier in Algeria.
