It’ll be exciting facing Kane again ―Troost-Ekong

Williams Troost-Ekong looks out for an exciting outing against Harry Kane when England and Nigeria face off in a pre-World Cup friendly tomorrow.

The Three Lions host the Super Eagles at Wembley Stadium and for Nigeria defender Troost-Ekong, it will be an emotional one playing in the country he was brought up and one of his former team-mates.

Troost-Ekong, who was born in the Netherlands, moved to England at 12 and was educated at Hockerill Anglo-European College, from where he joined Fulham before moving over to Tottenham academy. At Tottenham, he met Kane, who will captain England at the FIFA World Cup this month.

On the reunion with Kane, the Bursaspor of Turkey player told The Guardian of UK: “It’ll be nice to play against Harry again after all these years, so it will be exciting.”

He adds that the large presence of Nigerians, some of who will be in the stands at Wembley to cheer the Super Eagles makes the London trip a homecoming for him.

“It will be a bit of a homecoming seeing as I spent some time in England and I have such strong ties in England. And quite a lot of the team play in England and so many Nigerians live in England, so it will be a nice atmosphere,” Troost-Ekong said.

The England-Nigeria match will kick off at 5.15pm on Saturday.
