Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has hit back at the club’s supporters that abused him on social media after he missed a last-gasp chance in the Gunners’ defeat against Everton.
Iwobi was certainly not to blame for the defeat but some Arsenal fans took to the Nigerian’s Instagram page to criticise him for missing the last-gasp chance.
One user told Iwobi: ‘wtf? Please just go back to Nigeria’
Iwobi, understandably, didn’t take too kindly to the abuse and responded to the fan on his Snapchat page, saying: ‘But you see people like this…Lemme not talk too much’
The 20-year-old received numerous messages of abuse but the Nigerian used that particular criticism to praise one Arsenal fan that had defended him after his miss.
The Gooner in question defended Iwobi, saying that he was ‘unlucky’ to miss the chance and said the forward will learn from his ‘mistakes’.
Iwobi took a screenshot of the Instagram comment and posted on his snapchat, saying: ‘People like this I respect…I tried but was unfortunate I apologise.’
