Iwobi is dangerous ―Brazil coach

Everton’s Alex Iwobi has been earmarked as Nigeria’s danger man by Brazil.

The Blues new boy, who completed a move to Goodison Park from Arsenal for a reported £28million, potentially rising to £34million, has appeared seven times so far this season for Marco Silva’s side, scoring two goals.

Iwobi is now heading to Singapore’s National Stadium to potentially go head-to-head against his Everton team-mate Richarlison in a high-profile friendly against the Copa America winners on Sunday.

The game is one of three potential clashes between Blues team-mates during the current international break with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s Iceland hosting a France squad containing Lucas Digne and Djibril Sidibe today before the French are at home to Cenk Tosun’s Turkey on Tuesday.

Cleber Xavier, assistant to Brazil head coach Tite has picked out Iwobi as his side’s one to watch from among the opposition.

Nigeria’s only previous game against Brazil was a 3-0 defeat on home turf in Abuja back in 2003 but Xavier told the BBC: “At Nigeria, Iwobi plays more of an inside role as a second striker than at Everton.

“He is the link in the counter attack, drags opponents out of position and infiltrates well in the box.”
