Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Alex Iwobi needs to reignite the form which earned him a brace during Nigeria’s 4-2 win over Argentina during the week.
Wenger speaking ahead of the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in the Premier League said Iwobi, who only had a goal to show this season in five EPL games against in the 2-0 home win against Brighton on October 1.
Iwobi, was on fire in Russia, scoring twice against Argentina in a friendly, and Wenger believes his ward must build on that feat.
“What we want from him is to add goals to his game, and this kind of experiences {scoring for Nigeria} will help him be confident to score {for Arsenal,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Iwobi, has heaped plaudits on recuperating team-mate, Santi Cazorla, saying he remains the club’s most skillful player.
“Unfortunately, he is injured now, but I have to say Santi Cazorla,” Iwobi told Soccerladuma when asked to name Arsenal’s most skillful player.
“When I first entered the team, I was baffled that he {Cazorla} is so good with his left foot and right foot.
“I think, based on his ability, he is the best football player I have played with.
“Whenever he comes to the changing room, he still always has a smile on his face.
“Everyone is just buzzing for him to be around. He is really missed.”
