NIGERIA international, Alex Iwobi scored his first goal of the season in the English Premier League on Saturday as Arsenal came from behind to beat Stoke City 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Iwobi, it will be recalled, had scored in the Gunners’4-0 away win over FC Basel during the UEFA Champions League game on Tuesday.
The Super Eagles forward came on as a substitute for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 69th minute and did not spend more than six minutes on the pitch before he hit the back of the net.
Iwobi had pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box and finished the Stoke keeper with a grounder for the last goal of the day off an assist from Alexis Sanchez.
The visitors had shot ahead with a spot kick converted by Charlie Adam in the 29th minute after Granit Xhaka was deemed to have brought down Joe Allen in the box.
Theo Walcott drew parity in the 42nd minute when he arrived at the near post to turn in Hector Bellerin’s cross for his 50th goal at the Emirates Stadium.
Mesut Ozil made it 2-1 for the Gunners in the 59th minute with a looping header before Iwobi put the icing on the cake in the 75th minute.
