Jamie Vardy pens new four-year deal with Leicester

Leicester City confirmed on deadline day that striker Jamie Vardy has signed a new four-year contract with the former Premier League champions.

Vardy, 31, joined the Foxes from Fleetwood Town in 2012 and has scored 88 goals for the club in all competitions, including 24 in their title victory in 2015/16.

He was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal that summer but elected to stay at the King Power.

Speaking to the club’s website Vardy said “Everybody knows how I feel about playing for this Football Club and it’s a great feeling to know that I can look forward to another four years as a Leicester City player.

“The journey that me, the team and the Club have been on in the past few years has been incredible. Going into the new season, it’s an exciting time for Leicester City and I’m delighted to be part of it.”

Vardy’s new contract comes after Leicester wrapped up deadline day deals for defenders Çağlar Söyüncü and Filip Benković.
