Jens Lehmann set for Arsenal return

Jens Lehmann will return to the north London outfit with his new role as Wenger makes more changes to his backroom staff.

Former German goalkeeper Jens Lehman will re-join Arsenal for his third spell at the club, this time as their new goalkeeping coach.

Lehman, now 47 years old, first joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in 2003 and was part of the ‘Invincibles’ squad who lifted the Premier League trophy unbeaten in the 2003/2004 season.

After leaving in 2008, he returned in 2011 for a three-month period to cover the injuries of Arsenal’s options in goal, Szczesny, Fabianski and Mannone, though he only made one appearance.

In his third spell at the club, Jens Lehman will be given more responsibilty than overseeing the displays of Cech, Ospina and Martinez, but he will also advise Wenger taking on a more general role with the first team.

The former keeper made over 200 appearances for the Gunners, and will surely be a great addition to their coaching staff, which is undergoing several renovations.
