Joao Felix set to join Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid

Portuguese attacker Joao Felix is set to join Chelsea on loan from LaLiga side Atletico Madrid.

Felix will become Chelsea’s fourth signing of the January transfer window, following the arrivals of Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, and David Datro Fofana.

The 23-year-old had been tipped to make a move away from Spain, with Manchester United and Chelsea heavily linked. But the ever-reliable transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Blues had won the race to sign Joao Felix in a tweet on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

He tweeted, “João Félix to Chelsea, here we go! Full verbal agreement reached, loan move on €11m fee with 100% salary covered by Chelsea.

“Before leaving, JF will extend contract with Atléti until 2027. João will fly to London in the next hours to undergo medical tests and sign.”

The highly-rated Joao Felix who broke out at Benfica has failed to live up to expectations at Atletico, a move to Chelsea could be a step in the right direction.
