Jose Mourinho sends personalised texts to his Manchester United players in bid to boost morale

Mourinho has added a personal touch to his text messages all season and he continues to do so in a bid to rally the troops at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho has turned to texting players to boost morale amongst his flagging Manchester United squad.

United have claimed just five points from their last six Premier League outings and they now turn their attention to Wednesday night’s EFL Cup clash against Manchester City.

Team spirit is at an all-time low since Mourinho took over in the summer following the 4-0 thrashing at Chelsea at the weekend.

It means United have slumped to five points behind the league’s leading five teams.

And in a bid to rally the troops, Mourinho has kept up constant communication with his players.

The Portuguese boss has been sending individual text messages to his squad all season and has not stopped doing so amid the bad run of results.

He has been sending messages ahead of big games and no doubt will be doing ahead of the EFL Cup derby against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is keen to keep spirit as high as possible and is continuing to try and add a personal touch to his matchday preparations.

He is also reportedly jovial as the squad travels to matches on the team bus.

Despite his brave smiles, he will undoubtedly be concerned by his side’s inability to pick up a victory in recent weeks.

The clash against Pep Guardiola in the cup has become increasingly important for Mourinho in a bid to turn around his team’s form.

However, he will not have the services of Marouane Fellaini and Eric Bailly to call on, as both of whom miss out due to injuries sustained at Chelsea over the weekend.

Captain Wayne Rooney is also struggling to come back in time.
