Judo Union wades into Salah, Ramos controversy

One of the main talking points from the 2018 Champions League final was the injury to Mohamed Salah, with many wondering if Sergio Ramos intentionally hurt the Egyptian.

Some have compared his flooring of the Liverpool forward to a wrestling or judo move and now the European Judo Union have even had their say.

“Waki-gatame is a dangerous technique,” they said on social media.

“That’s why it is not allowed in judo to use for transition to ne-waza.”

“What do you think about this foul in the UCL final?”

The tweet sparked a debate amongst martial arts experts.
