Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool must develop as a club with a right to win titles

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland he always felt an offer from Anfield “would be difficult to turn down.”

Klopp, who joined Liverpool last season, said he “always liked the club.”

The former Borussia Dortmund boss, who won two Bundesliga titles with the German club and reached a Champions League final, added: “It’s very, very close to how I imagine football — extremely emotional.”

“It’s now about developing the club so that it has a natural right to win titles. Everything we can pick up along the way, we will pick up. That’s the plan.”

Looking ahead to life after Liverpool, Klopp said he would “definitely” return to Germany to live but added: “As a coach, I don’t know.

“And if at the end of my career I only have three clubs in Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool on my list, then those three clubs were just wicked.”

Discussing his retirement, he said: “The day will come when I say: ‘Thank you, that was fun.’ It’s highly unlikely I’ll still be in the dugout when I am 60.”
