Jurgen Klopp: Why my Liverpool players must listen to me

JURGEN KLOPP has revealed he must stay positive and patient with his Liverpool squad.

The Reds have started the season well, finding themselves in fourth place in the Premier League, just two points behind leaders Manchester City.

But Klopp insists young players need to be given a chance to develop but must listen to him and not to outside influences.

He said: “I can stay positive even when nobody is positive anymore.

“You need to create an atmosphere in the team where they listen to me and not listen to all around.

“They are very young lads. We all dream about the experienced players in the past but at one point in their career they were young players without the same quality.

“We need to give them the chance to develop and get there. We always judge so early. But I’m very patient. I know we need time but it doesn’t mean that we cannot do it now.”

The Liverpool boss also opened up on his current squad after enjoying a full pre-season with the Merseyside outfit.

Klopp added: “I’m completely fine with my squad, I really like it. [We have] good characters with a really good attitude – and all the rest you have to develop.

“I saw a lot of things last season where I thought ‘OK, come on, let’s try.’ And you cannot do more than try.”

Liverpool return to Premier League action against arch-rivals Manchester United after the international break.
