Justin Kluivert has blamed Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur for his imminent exit from Ajax, with the youngster claiming that his current side tried to ship him to the North London club behind his back.
In an interview with Volkskrant, The Ajax attacker said: “I’m not renewing my contract at Ajax. Too much has happened. The decreasing morale, lack of confidence, trying to sell me to Tottenham without me knowing.”
Son of Barcelona legend Patrick, Justin has attacked the club and claimed that they tried to bring meto the side as part for of their mega-money swoop for highly-rated defender and former Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez.
“I heard that at the last minute. That says nothing about Ajax, but about the people in the club. Somewhere it was laughing. You see how the football world works. If you get a little higher, it looks like a game. They do what they want. I now get that feeling again: they do what they want.”
These recently damning comments seem to suggest that Kluivert remaining at the Dutch side is now highly unlikely, as is any potential move to Spurs, who are in the midst of a project for the future with manager Maurico Pochettino and their new stadium. Kluivert would have been a great fit for the side but all that seems highly unlikely now, with the 19-year-old attacking the club.
With Ajax set for a major summer clear-out of their young guns, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has his watchful eye on the club.
Kluivert is reportedly on his radar and a move could well work for both sides. It could, however, throw the future of Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford in doubt, with the England international being played out of position by Mourinho.
The hope is that he is given the chance to bang in the goals as an out-and-out striker.
