Karim Adeyemi Foundation partners Borussia Dortmund on community development in Nigeria

The Karim Adeyemi Foundation, a non-governmental organisation established by a Nigerian-German footballer, Karim Adeyemi, has partnered with his German Bundesliga host club, Borussia Dortmund, on community development across Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement signed and released on Thursday by the Foundation’s Chief Operations Officer, Olaolu Adedayo.

According to the statement, Adeyemi, during the Bundesliga’s winter break embarked on a visit to Nigeria, where he personally engaged with the initiatives led by his foundation, Karim Adeyemi Foundation.

Together with Adeyemi during the visit were Borussia Dortmund (BVB) representatives, who witnessed the Foundation’s dedication to eliminating poverty, ending inequalities, and empowering local youths through education, empowerment, and football development.

The statement hinted that Adeyemi’s visit to Nigeria underscored the deep connection he feels towards the country.

Expressing his commitment, he stated, “I wanted to contribute and uplift the people of Nigeria.” This resonates with the Foundation’s ambitious goal of providing education to 1,000 students by 2030, particularly addressing the issue of out-of-school children in Oyo State.

Accompanied by Christian Diercks, Head of the BVB Evonik Football Academy, Adeyemi’s visit symbolises the alignment between the Karim Adeyemi Foundation and Borussia Dortmund in fostering community development. Greeted by local fans dressed in BVB jerseys, the collaboration emphasizes the global impact of this partnership in creating positive change.

Notable highlights included Karim’s involvement in the Adeyemi Football Club U’13 training sessions at the Olubadan Stadium, engagement in street football in Odo Osun, and commissioning a water borehole—a milestone benefiting 20,000 people in the Odo Osun community.

Another notable highlight was the courtesy visit paid to the Olubadan palace to pay homage and show solidarity with the monarch. This visit displayed his connection to the Yoruba culture and his love for collaboration with key stakeholders that propel development in communities.
