Karius’s agent rubbishes transfer claims

After the signing of Alisson Becker from Roma, Loris Karius left Liverpool to start a 2-year loan deal, with an option to buy, effectively ending the German goalkeeper’s career on the Red half of Merseyside.

Things haven’t been going great for the shot-stopper, including several high-profile blunders, and the manager threatening to drop him for Europa League matches. Yesterday, a social media post gone wrong led to speculation that the loan deal was on the verge of termination. Today, however, Karius’s agent, Florian Goll, refuted the news.

“Complete nonsense. I wonder where such things come from. This news is absolutely untrue,” Goll was cited as saying in Four Four Two.

“Loris is on loan to Besiktas for two years – that’s the situation. The club has no intention of ending this loan contract prematurely.

“It’s fact that Loris is the clear number one at Besiktas, he played every game and showed good performances.”

That’s about as clear of a quote as you could hope for in a situation like this. His long-term loan to Besiktas is probably the best possible way to rehabilitate his career after, well, you know. And of course it is best for Liverpool as well, who have moved on without him.
