Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria issues disclaimer on suspended officials

The Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria (KBFN) has issued a disclaimer, warning the public to desist from transacting business with the trio of its officials, Messrs Wilson Okon, Nelson Oluigbo and Emmanuel Atagana.

A letter dated 9th April, 2026, signed by the Federation’s Secretary General, Javan Bernard and made available to Sporting Tribune, said that a publication written on behalf of the KBFN by the trio does not emanate from the Federation, and they were not in any way assigned to do so.

The letter, addressed to the Chairman, Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and copied to the Directors of Sports Associations/Clubs, Universities, Polytechnics, Military and Para-Military, notified the public that Okon, Oluigbo Atagana, is currently suspended from all kickboxing-related activities.

It also read that any statement, notice and communication issued by those individuals or their associates are null and void, and of no effect, and should be disregarded by all stakeholders.

It said the publication alleging illegitimacy of duly recognised structures and activities of the Federation is misleading, unauthorised, and does not reflect the true position of the KBFN.

“The Federation wishes to reaffirm that all official communications, programmes and events of KBFN are conveyed strictly through the recognised office of the Secretary General or other duly authorised channels.

“Stakeholders, athletes, coaches, referees and the general public are strongly advised to exercise caution and verify through the official KBFN communication platforms to avoid being misled by unauthorised persons,” the letter read in part.

The letter assured the public that the Federation remains committed to upholding integrity and due process in the development of the sport in line with national and international standards.
