Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that forward Darwin Nunez has further aggravated his shoulder injury, which he sustained during the clash with Newcastle earlier this month.
Although the Uruguay international was doubtful for the midweek game against Real Madrid, he still managed to start and score before being substituted after 60 minutes. However, despite not appearing to struggle as he left the pitch, Nunez was surprisingly absent from Liverpool’s matchday squad to face Crystal Palace.
In response to Nunez’s absence, Klopp explained that he had received an injection to help alleviate the pain against Madrid as there was no structural damage. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old suffered another knock to his shoulder the day after the game and was unable to move his arm at all. Klopp added that they will have to wait and see how long Nunez’s recovery will take.

Without Nunez in their squad, Liverpool was held to a goalless draw against Palace, and they are now focusing on their next game against Wolves in the Premier League. Nunez is set to undergo a late fitness test before the game, while defender Joe Gomez will need further checks after missing the Palace game due to a muscle injury.
On the bright side, Liverpool fans can expect to see Ibrahima Konate back in team training and possibly even playing against Wolves. Meanwhile, on-loan midfielder Arthur Melo is also nearing a return after completing 90 minutes for the Under-21 side.
Overall, Klopp and his team are facing a difficult period with several key players out due to injuries. However, with players like Konate and Melo returning, Liverpool will be hoping to bounce back from their recent setback and secure a crucial win against Wolves.
