SUPER Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has said that Algeria cannot take him by surprise having watched and played against the north Africans a couple of times.
The Desert Warriors visit the Super Eagles in a 2018 African Group 2 qualifier in Uyo on November 12 as Rohr calls on his wealth of experience working in Africa.
“I know the Algerians, I have seen them quite clearly,” said Rohr.
He recalled that he scored an away win over the north Africans during his time with the Gabonese national team.
“With Gabon, we beat Algeria, so we have big chances of topping our group and taking the World Cup ticket.”
He, however, called for commitment on the part of the players, saying there was a difference between playing for their various clubs and the national team.
“Everybody must know that it is a big responsibility for each player to play for his country and it is bigger responsibility to play because the country is a family, it is 180 million. The club is not the same.
“I want them to work for themselves, for the team and for the country. The motivation is here, the players understand what I want,” Rohr said.
