Kwara state government, in partnership with corporate organisations in the state, have completed arrangements for the second edition of Ilorin Games Fiesta, an open game festival, aimed to harmonise all residents of Ilorin, the state’s capital.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Monday, the convener of the game festival, Abisola Kabirat Olaiya, said that it would include fun and networking through gaming, adding that it is planned to enhance unity, peace and networking among individuals residing in the city.
He also said that the game fiesta, which started in 2023 to celebrate raw talents among residents in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, added that it was organized to include diverse sporting activities and entertainment.
Engineer Olaiya said that part of the activities lined up include various forms of indoor and outdoor games, recreational games, horseback riding and entertainment activities for both the young and old.
The convener stated that the event, certified by the International Olympic Council (IOC) for its impact, is not just to harmonise all Ilorin residents, but also a “platform where sports meets entertainment and avails participants the opportunity to network”.
According to her, the seven-hour event will kick off with a red carpet by 11:00 am on November 24, while the games and entertainment activities start by 12 noon at Succoth Valley Garden.
“The Ilorin Games Fiesta which held its maiden edition last year, is organized by Kwara skilful youths and there have been no limitations to a specific attendance; age range starting from age 3 and above.
“The open game festival is a broad gathering to harmonise all Ilorin residents for maximum fun and networking through gaming. This is to enhance unity, peace and networking among individuals residing in the city of Ilorin.
“The first edition was such a huge success that the IOC recognised it and awarded a certificate to the convener, certifying the GameFiesta in all states of the federation.”
