Akor Adams scored for the second consecutive match as Sevilla FC came from two goals down to defeat Villarreal CF 3-2 in Wednesday night’s La Liga clash at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
The Nigerian striker netted the winning goal in the 72nd minute to complete Sevilla’s comeback and move the club four points clear of the relegation zone with two matches left this season.
Sevilla endured a difficult start as Villarreal raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 20 minutes. Gerard Moreno opened the scoring after being set up by Georges Mikautadze before the hosts doubled their advantage through Mikautadze, who finished from Alberto Moleiro’s delivery after a pass from Nicolas Pépé.
The visitors responded before halftime to get themselves back into the contest. Oso reduced the deficit in the 36th minute after a solo run before Kike Salas levelled the score just before the break with a half-volley inside the box.

The game remained balanced in the second half until Sevilla produced the move that decided the encounter. Alexis Sánchez, Juanlu Sánchez and Djibril Sow combined in midfield before the ball was worked into the path of Adams inside the penalty area.
The 26-year-old struck first time past Villarreal goalkeeper Arnau Tenas at the near post to hand Sevilla the lead for the first time in the match.
Villarreal pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Sevilla held on to secure a result that could prove decisive in their fight to remain in the Spanish top flight.
The goal was Adams’ 10th league strike of the campaign and followed his late winner against Espanyol in Sevilla’s previous outing.
The result also ended Sevilla’s poor away run and lifted them into the top half of the table ahead of Sunday’s clash against Real Madrid.
