Lagos FA announces timeline for 2025/2026 league season

The Lagos State Football Association State League Management Committee has announced the timeline for the 2025/2026 season following its meeting on Saturday.

According to the schedule released by the committee, registration for the new season will run from March 9 to March 23, 2026. The draws and press conference are slated for April 2, 2026, while the league is scheduled to kick off on April 11, 2026.

A total of 20 clubs will compete in the men’s category for the league title. The teams will be split into two conferences, Atlantic and Mainland, with 10 clubs in each group.

In the women’s category, 16 teams will participate, also divided into the Atlantic and Mainland conferences.

The Chief Operating Officer of the league, Musbau Oseni, disclosed that the registration fee is ₦250,000 for men’s teams and ₦150,000 for women’s teams.

Oseni explained that player registration will be conducted both online and physically, urging clubs to complete their registrations early, as late registration will not be entertained.

He further revealed that the top two teams from each conference in both the men’s and women’s leagues will qualify for the season-ending Super Four, while the bottom two teams in each conference will be relegated.

Ahead of the new season, the league management will also organise seminars for participating clubs on April 8, 2026, focusing on key areas such as medical procedures, insurance, and officiating.

Some of the clubs expected to compete in the men’s league include defending champions Arubinjaga FA, Utmost FC, Unizee FC, Ibeju Lekki United, Young Strikers FC, Bucknor FC, Team 360 FC, FC Heritage and Chekas Feeders.

In the women’s league, teams expected to feature include defending champions CATS Ladies, Victory Queens, FC Phoenix, Unification Talents, Unizee Shella FC and Victorious Angels.

The announcement signals the official build-up to another competitive season of grassroots football in Lagos.
