The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa along with the President World Olympian Association, Joel Bouzou (OLY) have decorated three Nigerian Olympians in Paris at the Olympic House, Paris.
Obasa also promised to donate N10 million to the three Lagos Olympians.
According to him, the gesture was a reward for their outstanding performance as Nigeria athletes in various sports at the Olympics and their ability and determination to uplift and showcase the good image of Lagos and Nigeria to the world.
The athletes while appreciating the Speaker’s for the gesture promised to continue to encourage young athletes to represent Nigeria with pride and determination in future competitions.
They thanked the Speaker and the Lagos State House of Assembly for their support and encouragement and promised to continue to make the country proud in their respective sports.
The Speaker commended the athletes for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence, which led to their successes at the Olympics during their days. He said the cash reward was a token of appreciation for their efforts and a way to show support for their future endeavours in sports.
Also present at the OLY House are CEO, World Olympian Association, Mike Miller, Senegalese 1988 Olympic silver medalist, Amadou Dia Ba and first Olympics medalist for Burundi, Venuste Niyongabo.
In attendance with the speaker are Lagos State Chairman House Committee on Sports, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, SSA on Sports to Lagos State Governor, Orimoloye Damilare.
