LALIGA: Atletico Madrid open talks for highly-rated Moroccan star

 

Atletico Madrid is leading the race to secure the services of Sofyan Amrabat, the highly-rated defensive midfielder and Moroccan international, according to L’Équipe.

Amrabat made a significant impact in the 2022 World Cup, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances as the Atlas Lions made history by reaching the tournament’s semi-finals.

Amrabat’s outstanding displays have attracted interest from top-tier clubs, including Barcelona and renowned Premier League teams. The 26-year-old currently represents Fiorentina and has a contract that runs until 2024.

Negotiations between Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid are ongoing, as they aim to reach an agreement regarding the transfer fee for the talented Moroccan midfielder.

With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Geoffrey Kondogbia (30) and Saúl Ñíguez (28), Atlético Madrid is actively seeking a defensive midfielder to strengthen their squad.

Kondogbia, a former Monaco player, has been linked with a potential return to Ligue 1, while Saúl has attracted attention from Al-Nassr, a Saudi Arabian club backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
