According to ‘Sky Sports’, FIFA have so far refused to accept Leicester’s registration of Portuguese international Adrien Silva.
Leicester agreed terms with the Sporting player on deadline day, after seeing Danny Drinkwater leave for Chelsea. Five days later, however, the club are still trying to push through the £22m move.
The foxes requested a two-hour extension to Thursday’s 11pm deadline in order to finalise all the necessary paperwork.
Both Leicester and Sporting have released official statements confirming the move, but it is yet to be sanctioned by FIFA.
A Leicester City spokesman said: “We are working with Adrien and Sporting Clube de Portugal to overcome some issues relating to the player’s registration and exploring all options to find a resolution.”
Official statements:
“Sporting Club de Portugal… informs the market that we have reached an agreement with Leicester for the definitive transfer of the sporting and economic rights of the professional soccer player Adrien Silva. The registration of the same (player) is awaiting confirmation of FIFA.”
