Robert Lewandowski
Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski has been named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2019/20.
The Polish international, 32, beat off competition from Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Bayern team-mate Manuel Neuer. The award was announced during the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Geneva.
Lewandowski thus became the 11th player from the Bundesliga to clinch the European gong.
However, Lionel Messi and PSG star Neymar finished joint fourth as they both amassed 53 points each.
According to www.uefa.com. the other players who made the Top 10 are Thomas Muller (Bayern) 41 points; Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain) 39 points; Thiago Alcántara (Bayern) 27 points; Joshua Kimmich (Bayern) 26 points andCristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) 25 points.

At 32, Lewandowski enjoyed the most productive season of his career to date. In 47 appearances for Bayern, Lewandowski found the target on 55 occasions.
In the 2020 calendar, he scored 26 goals in as many games and has gone on to claim a UEFA Super Cup triumph in the early weeks of the current campaign.
His contribution was expected to make him a leading contender for the Ballon d’Or, but the awarding of that gong has been scrapped by France Football amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
