Lille target Gift Orban as replacement for Star Striker Jonathan David

Ligue 1 club Lille is gearing up for the summer transfer window and has identified several key objectives.

One of these goals includes finding a suitable replacement for their star striker, Jonathan David, who is likely to depart the club.

While concrete offers for the 23-year-old Canadian international have yet to materialize, David has expressed his desire to seek new opportunities away from LOSC. Lille expects significant interest in the talented attacker throughout the summer, given his impressive record of 25 goal involvements (goals + assists) in Ligue 1 this season.

In preparation for David’s potential departure, Lille has been actively scouting potential replacements, with reports from France indicating that the club’s top target is Gift Orban, a 20-year-old Nigerian forward currently playing for Gent.

Orban joined the Belgian side in January frm Danish side Stabaek and has enjoyed a sensational run, scoring 19 goals and providing 2 assists in just 19 appearances across all competitions.

Orban’s remarkable performances have captured the attention of numerous scouts from top European clubs. Sports Zone reports that representatives from Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, AS Monaco, Manchester United, RB Leipzig, Benfica, Inter Milan, and RC Lens have been closely monitoring the young forward on a regular basis.

Lille’s interest in Gift Orban underscores their determination to secure a promising talent who can fill the void left by Jonathan David’s potential departure.
