Liverpool will take on Roma in the Champions League semi-final while Arsenal have been drawn against Atlético Madrid in the Europa League final four.
Liverpool, of course, beat Manchester City 5-1 on aggregate to cruise through to their first Champions League semi-final for ten years. Bayern Munich face Real Madrid in the other semi-final tie.
Liverpool and Roma have not met in a competitive match since 2002, when Liverpool won 2-0 at Anfield to reach the last eight. The sides had earlier drawn 0-0 in Italy and Liverpool’s win at home was enough to pip their opponents to second spot in the group. Jari Litmanen and Emile Heskey were the scorers.
The two teams have met in pre-season friendlies three times in recent years, Roma winning all three matches.
Arsenal beat CSKA Moscow to reach the final four of the Europa League and will take on Atlético Madrid while Marseille face Salzburg in the other semi-final. Bizarrely, Arsenal and Atletico have never before met in a competitive match.
The Champions League semi-final first-leg ties will take place on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 April with the second legs on May 1 and 2. The final is due to be played on Saturday, May 26 in Kyiv.
The Europa League semi-finals first leg ties will be played on Thursday 26 April, with the return legs a week later on May 3. The finals is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16 in Lyon.
