Liverpool officials fly to Monaco

Liverpool chiefs are flying to Monaco in an attempt to finalise a deal for Thomas Lemar.

Jurgen Klopp’s side made an extraordinary bid of £74m, plus Divock Origi on loan, for the French winger on Tuesday.

It is understood that Lemar is keen on a move to the Premier League and is open to the idea of working under Klopp.

Origi has been deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield and therefore could be used as makeweight in the deal.

The French champions appear to have signed a replacement for their star player in Keita Balde, with the winger joining from Lazio on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the side who thrashed Arsenal 4-0 last weekend are ready to inflict further damage on the Gunners squad with the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Liverpool are growing increasingly confident of landing the England international after he turned down a move to Premier League champions Chelsea.

Reports suggest that negotiations are underway between the two clubs, but the Reds will have to table a bid of more than £35m to land their man.
