Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho overtakes Barcelona’s Neymar as most productive Brazilian in Europe

The attacker’s two assists yesterday saw him leapfrog his international team-mate for creating and scoring goals

PHILIPPE COUTINHO has overtaken Neymar as the most productive Brazilian in Europe.

The Liverpool attacker has been in blistering form this season as the Anfield club look to win their first league title since 1990.

The former Inter Milan midfielder, 24, created two more goals yesterday taking his tally to four.

And along with his four goals so far this season, Coutinho eclipses his international team-mate.

Neymar has four goals and three assists – but has played two games less than Coutinho.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds came through a tough trip to Crystal Palace to win 4-2.

That keeps the Merseyside club joint top with Manchester City and Arsenal on 23 points.

The thrill-a-minute game saw Liverpool go ahead through Emre Can only to be cancelled out by James McArthur after Dejan Lovren’s horror back pass.

Lovren then made up for his mistake after heading in Coutinho’s corner but McArthur again got Palace level.

Joel Matip then headed in from another Coutinho corner before Roberto Firmino sealed the win.

Top performing Brazilians in Europe

Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool): 10 games / 4 goals / 4 assists
Neymar (Barcelona): 8 games / 4 goals / 3 assists
Lucas (PSG): 11 games / 5goals / 0 assists
Felipe Anderson (Lazio): 9 games / 1 goal / 4 assists
Welthon (Pacos Ferreira): 9 games / 3 goals / 2 assists
Raffael (Borussia Monchengladbach): 3 games / 2 goals
