LMC’s disciplinary measures should be more severe –Omokaro

Ex-international, Bright Omokaro, on Wednesday called on the League Management Company (LMC) to ensure that sanction for violence at match venues are made more severe.

Omokaro who made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said such measures would serve as a serious warning to other clubs.

NAN reports that fans of Remo Stars of Shagamu were violent at the end of match day three fixture against Bendel Insurance of Benin.

The fans had poor officiating in the match that ended 1-1 at the Gateway International Stadium Shagamu.

“I personally believe that punishment against such misconduct should be more severe, by so doing; everyone will seat up and act appropriately.

“Club managers will also caution their teeming fans against any violence, because they know the club will pay dearly for such misconduct.

“Nigerians by nature are tough, we need iron hand, if we keep giving them same sanction year in year out and still it continues, then something is wrong.

“It simply means we need to change tactics and be ruthless because obviously we are not getting it right,” he said.

LMC had already fined Remo Stars N6 million, in addition to playing and its next three home matches away from home in Oshogbo, Osun.

The LMC also banned the club Chairman, Kunle Soname for three NPFL matches and imposed a N500, 000 fine while the manager of the team, Yinka Ajayi, was suspended for the rest of the season.
