Loris Karius earns himself shock contract

Loris Karius has earned himself a new deal at Liverpool just a month after heading for a summer exit.

The Reds have identified a number of areas in the summer that they will strengthen as they bid to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League crown.

And goalkeeper was one of those positions, as well as two defenders and another midfielder.

Naby Keita is already arriving in the summer, but Emre Can is likely to leave.

And one heavily touted target was Roma stopper Allison, who has made a big impression this season in Serie A.

However, the Italian outfit are playing hardball having already sold them Mohamed Salah last summer.

The Egyptian was sold for around £35m and has gone on to score 40 goals, making him one of the bargains of the window.

And that means Karius could see his future at Anfield extended after a rocky start.

The German keeper only broke into the first-team earlier this year after a number of mistakes by Simon Mignolet.

Since then, the 24-year-old has made a string of stunning performances and has impressed Jurgen Klopp.

And the Sun are reporting that the ex-Mainz ace is set for a pay-rise on his £50,000-a-week wages.

Jack Butland remains a target for the Merseyside outfit, with his future largely depending on Stoke’s Premier League status.

The Potters are currently 19th in the table and are six points adrift of safety.
