Luis Suarez injury scare as he collides with team-mate Diego Godin in Uruguay training and crumples to the floor

But his fellow team-mates didn’t seem too concerned with the potential injury as they scrambled to collect the loose ball

LUIS SUAREZ gave Uruguay and Barcelona fans a scare when he crumpled to the floor during a training session ahead of his country’s World Cup Qualifier.

The 29-year-old decided to don the gloves and play goalkeeper during the session in Barranquilla, Colombia.

But when you’re clashing with defensive powerhouse Diego Godin, there’s the obvious risk of pain.

And that’s exactly what happened when the pair clashed when challenging for the ball.

Suarez came for the ball, but Godin used his strength to hold off the stand-in keeper.

Suarez fell to the floor, in apparent pain, clutching the right side of his torso, while Atletico Madrid hardman writhed holding his back.

Their fellow players didn’t seem overly-concerned, however, as they made desperate attempts to recover the ball.

Leaders Uruguay will travel to Barranquilla to face fourth-place Colombia while Brazil visits Merida to challenge bottom Venezuela.

If Brazil win and Uruguay fails to, the five-time world champions will go from sixth place to first in only four matches under new manager Adenor Bacchi, universally known as Tite.

Weeks ago, Brazil wasn’t even among the top four in South America’s standings, which award automatic places at the World Cup in Russia. Now Brazil has 18 points, one behind Uruguay.
