Luiz believe in Sarri

Chelsea defender David Luiz has stressed that he and his team-mates are behind Maurizio Sarri following his rant at the weekend.

The Blues put in a disappointing performance as they were beaten 2-0 at Arsenal on Saturday and Sarri did not hold back in the press conference after the game.

An angry Sarri was critical of his players’ mentality, accusing them of being ‘extremely difficult to motivate’, and the fact he did it so publically has been criticised by some.

Player power usually wins at Stamford Bridge with Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte both being axed after losing the dressing room, and Sarri is in danger of going the same way.

Luiz said the manager ‘was not happy’ after the match but appeared to dismiss the suggestion the players were unhappy with his rant and trust his philosophy.

“What Sarri (who took charge last summer) has done until now is unbelievable, amazing, because normally (for) a team to understand this philosophy needs one or two years, like Manchester City and Liverpool, who are playing very well with the ball now,” Luiz said.

“What he has done has been amazing, so we have to try to improve the details now.”
