Mahrez: We’ll give everything against West Ham

Riyad Mahrez says Leicester City must put in a big performance in front of the Blue Army on Saturday when West Ham United travel to King Power Stadium.

The Algeria international wants the Foxes to respond to last week’s defeat to Crystal Palace by beating the Hammers, who are still fighting to secure their Premier League status.

Mahrez, who has scored 10 goals in the Premier League this term, knows West Ham, just like Leicester, will be in the hunt for three points.

Speaking to LCFC TV, he said: “It will be a difficult game but we must win. We will try to give everything in front of our fans, in our stadium, especially after the last game. We need to give a good response and try to get the points.

“It’s difficult to play against a team who fights relegation to try and stay in the Premier League, so it will be a big battle because they will try to win.

“They will come here to win, so we will see what kind of team they will put out and what kind of tactics they use.

“Whether they stay behind or they attack us on the front foot. We will see. We will try to manage the game and try to win.”

Mahrez, looking back at November’s 1-1 draw at the London Stadium, knows just how difficult it is to face David Moyes’ men.

He added: “It was tight. We drew. I think we could have won, but sometimes when you can’t win, it’s better to not lose it, so I think it was a fair result at the end.

“It’s a difficult team to play against because they have quality and physically, they are very strong. They play five at the back so it’s a different shape than us.

“We need to get some points. We need to get back to playing good, and creating a lot of chances and to win. Simple as that.

“We need to win. One or two games, maybe three. We will see, but we need to win, that’s the most important thing.”
