ARSENAL majority shareholder “silent” Stan Kroenke has told Arsene Wenger: “We want you to win the title this season”.
The American businessman, known as “Silent Stan” because of his rareness in public speaking gave a flatteringly put ultimatum to the boss, who recently celebrated 20 years at the north London club, at Arsenal’s annual general meeting today.
Arsenal have their strongest squad in years, and currently sit joint top of the Premier League alongside
The Gunners have not won the title since the Invincibles of 2004, and kicking off the AGM today, Kroenke said about Wenger.
The 69-year-old billionaire, who said Wenger was “main reasons he bought the club”, said: “It’s great to be here and wonderful day.
“Arsene you’ve always shown commitment, dedication and energy and you brought a new style to English football and our club.
“Also in a world of great scrutiny and pressure you’ve always handled yourself with class.
“We have a great club and are very excited about this season. We know we will compete for trophies and always have and would like nothing better than to see you win the championship this year.
“You should be proud of the last 20 years.”
