Man City to honour Hart with pitch naming

Manchester City are poised to welcome Joe Hart back to the Etihad this weekend by naming a training pitch in his honour.

The England goalkeeper spent a decade with the Citizens and made 348 appearances, winning two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups during his successful time in Manchester.

Hart faces his former employers for the first time on Saturday when Burnley visit his old stomping ground, with the home fans also planning a fitting tribute to their former hero.

The 31-year-old was shown the door by Pep Guardiola and initially forced to spend two years out on loan at Torino and West Ham United before making a permanent £4m summer switch to the Clarets.

Hart failed to receive a proper send-off at the time and now City’s bosses want to make sure their former number one is properly recognised by the club.

City named a training pitch after former midfielder Yaya Toure at the end of last season and it is believed a similar gesture is being considered for Hart.
