MANCHESTER CITY’S Champions League clash against Borussia Monchengladbach will take place tomorrow evening.
The game was postponed tonight due to a freak thunderstorm.
After a day of hot and humid weather, a vicious storm hit Manchester at around 6pm.
For a solid hour, torrential rain, lightning and thunder hammered the city as huge lakes of water surrounded the Etihad.
The UK Environment Agency put out a severe weather flood warning while cars were abandoned in streets surrounding the stadium and roads were gridlocked as they became deluges by feet of water.
Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers kept an eye on the state of the playing surface and was kicking a ball around an hour before kick-off.
But by 7.25pm both clubs has been consulted by UEFA and police and agreed the tie could not go ahead.
The pitch drained quickly but public safety issues over the state of the areas around the Etihad meant there was no chance of the game going ahead.
And it has now been revealed the clash will take place tomorrow night at 7:45pm.
