Man U player calls for fans backing ahead of Everton showdown

Ashley Young has called on the Manchester United fans to back the team as they go in search of three points against Everton.

Following a very encouraging display against Chelsea last week, the Reds were brought back down to earth as Juventus outclassed them in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Attention returns now to Premier League action as United look to make amends, with Everton arriving at Old Trafford on Sunday, and Young says the fans have a crucial role to play.

“It’s always a special place to play in front of the home fans,” Young added. “We need them behind us again on Sunday, which I know they will be. We look to dust ourselves down and go and get three points.”

Meanwhile, Young was disappointed but not disheartened by the loss to Juventus, with the United captain keen to take the positives from an improved second-half display that he believes deserved a draw.

“It’s another one of those days where the ball just wouldn’t go in,” he said.

“But I felt with the way we played, especially in the second half, if we had got a goal out of it, got a draw of it, it would maybe have (been) justified the way we started the second half.”
