Man Utd post record number of shots and still fail to score against Burnley

The Red Devils were unable to break their opponents’ resistance at Old Trafford on Saturday despite having a record number of shots in the game

It proved an afternoon of immense frustration for Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United side as they were held to a goalless draw at Old Trafford by Burnley.

Their exasperation at failing to find a breakthrough will only be exacerbated by the fact they had an incredible total of 37 shots during the contest.

That figure is their highest-ever in a Premier League match since Opta records began back in 2003-04.

The draw – in which Ander Herrera was sent off – means that United have lost further ground at the top of the Premier League table with Mourinho’s men already eight points behind leaders Manchester City and Arsenal.
