Man Utd table 6-year deal for Rashford

Manchester United have reportedly made a breakthrough in talks aimed at keeping striker Marcus Rashford at the club long term.

The Manchester local has indicated he is ready to sign a new deal which will keep him at Old Trafford until potentially 2025, after positive talks over a lucrative new contract.

And executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is confident he will be able to announce a new contract for the 21-year-old within the next few weeks, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

Rashford had serious doubts about his United future under former boss Jose Mourinho but since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the England star has netted eight goals in 15 appearances under the Norwegian.

It is understood that one of Woodward’s priorities when he appointed Solskjaer as a interim chief was to see a transformation in selection policy which gave more opportunities to young talent – including the likes of Rashford, Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira.

Martial has already responded to his new lease of life by recently penning a new five-year deal, thought to be worth in the region of £200,000 a week, while United are expected to trigger one-year extension for Pereira.

However, it is local lad Rashford who the club are desperate to secure, with the forward’s current contract having two more years to run, with the option of a one-year extension.

And if the latest reports are to be believed then it is only a matter of time before a major announcement is made.
