Manchester City await £12.2m windfall from Inter Milan after Stevan Jovetic features against Pescara

The Nerazzurri are now forced to convert their 18-month loan for the Montenegrin into a permanent deal after failing to strike a deal with Fiorentina in the summer.

Manchester City will bank a cool £12.2million from Inter Milan after Stevan Jovetic triggered a clause in his loan deal to make it a permanent move.

The Nerazzurri had planned to ship the Montenegrin out with a move back to Fiorentina floated, but after staying, Frank De Boer decided to make use of the forward.

After replacing Ivan Perisic in the 75th minute of Sunday’s 2-1 Serie A win over Pescara, Inter essentially committed to forking out the enormous fee.

Despite such a heavy investment, Inter opted against including Jovetic in their Europa League squad alongside big-money signings Joao Mario and Gabriel Barbosa.

The Nerazzurri face Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Europe on Thursday night at the San Siro with optimism growing under their Dutch tactician.

Jovetic only produced six goals on loan last season in Serie A and will be hoping that he receives more opportunities after Roberto Mancini’s departure
